Each year ADS Region 15 offers the opportunity for all hybridizers to nominate one of their best cultivars for the Jeffcoat Hybridizer Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize our region’s advances in hybridizing and to encourage a new level of achievement. Originally known as the Lambert Award (established in the late 1970’s), this award serves two purposes: first, to recognize advances in hybridizing, and second, to encourage regional hybridizers. Sponsored by the Low Country Daylily Society since 2008, the award is now named in recognition of the hybridizing contributions of Jim and Peggy Jeffcoat and their outstanding service to the mission of ADS and Region 15.
Nominations for this award are made by the hybridizers themselves. IMPORTANT - This award has a long cycle between the nomination and award presentation: Eligible hybridizers submit their nominations to the Awards Management Chair by Feb. 1 of each year. Photos are printed in the spring edition of the Hemalina to raise member awareness of the nominees as they visit gardens in the summer. |
Award selection is determined by ADS Region 15 membership vote. Votes may be submitted either in writing through the USPS or electronically to the Awards Management Chair by SEPT 1 of each year. The winner of the Jeffcoat Hybridizer Award will receive an engraved plaque presented by the president of the sponsoring club at the FALL REGIONAL MEETING.

1. Any cultivar registered in the past 10 years is eligible
2. A high resolution photo is required with the nomination 300 dpi minimum
3. The Hybridizer submitting a nomination cannot have won this award in the past three years.
4. Send nominations to the Awards Management Chair. No special form is necessary, but must include the following: Name of hybridizer, Name of cultivar, Date of registration.
5. A nomination that does not win the award can be reentered in subsequent years; the winning cultivar cannot.
